New ways to shoot landscapes at night

We read from many literature related to landscape photography at night. Things like a sturdy tripod, low ISO, small aperture, etc. are inseparable from night landscape photography.

Many photographers have told me that they like to photograph cities at night. This will allow them to capture the beautiful urban lights. Not to forget the light lanes of vehicles moving in heavy traffic. Who would love to miss these eye-catching neon signs?

You will surely produce beautiful and attractive images that can impress your viewers. The question is how do you differentiate yourself, if every photographer does and shoots the same thing?

You can consider taking night photography from a different perspective. You don’t have to always have to include a group of buildings in a cityscape, or have a foreground in your frame.

Why not have a longer lens to take tighter shots? Instead of framing a series of buildings, try to enlarge a specific part of the building that emits bright and beautiful lights. These shots can be abstract and can pique viewers’ curiosity.

If there is a river or a pond in front of the buildings, make good use of it. Why not try photographing reflections and capturing lights from buildings? Again, you can only photograph a portion of the buildings to make your photography unique!

I am sure your photos will be more attractive after the rain. Make good use of raindrops on metal surfaces or window panes to produce random, abstract, and eye-catching images.

Instead of photographing the light trails of cars either from ground level or from overhead bridges, try capturing the light trails of a double-decker bus. I’m sure the photos will be even more amazing!
